New York Yankees drop in latest AL East Power Rankings
Number Four: Tampa Bay Rays (10-10)
Picture eating a nice slice of watermelon on a hot summer day. Suddenly, a fly lands on your plate, and not matter how hard you try, it stays around and irritates you.
That fly is the Tampa Bay Rays.
Honestly, mediocre never looked so good. The Rays rank top ten in batting average, top 15 in ERA, and top ten in home runs.
They have been undoubtedly the most middle-of-the-pack team in the AL East. With a record right at .500, they continue to be the Rays of old.
Those boys in Tampa just love to creep at the back of the division and jump on a team’s dream for the playoffs. I talked about it a lot last week, but come on… this is so classic.
They open up a series against the Orioles this week, so I’m going to do my journalistic duty, and make a bold prediction. The Rays aren’t going to sweep the Orioles, but I see them taking two games out of three.
It’s just what most people can expect from the Rays nowadays.
Beware of the Rays members of the AL East. They might sit at number four this week, but they’re always ready to take down the team at the top spot.
