New York Mets Take a Slide in NL East Power Rankings
By Nick Ziegler
It was a great week for the Philadelphia Phillies, as they had one of the best weeks of any team in baseball. With a 5-1 record in Week 3, the Phillies are back to .500 and playing some good baseball.
Their win on Friday night against the Atlanta Braves was a thriller, as Maikel Franco had a two-run walk-off single to win the game in extras. Franco is a very talented player, but he has yet to get it going this season. With an average below .200, the walk-off hit might be something that can spark him.
In the rotation, the Phillies are being led by Jeremy Hellickson. So far this season, Hellickson has totaled a 1.88 ERA, 3-0 record, 0.71 WHIP. He might not strikeout a lot of batters, but he is pitching very well for the Phillies early on.
The Phillies will try to keep the momentum going next week, as they face the Miami Marlins. With both teams being in a dead heat record-wise, this series will be important for the rankings next week.
After the series against the Marlins, the Phillies will be heading out West for a weekend series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, as they start a seven-game road trip.
