New York Mets Take a Slide in NL East Power Rankings
By Nick Ziegler
While the rest of the NL East was playing each other, the Marlins were the odd team out. With the other four teams battling each other, the Marlins were out west starting a lengthy road trip. In Seattle, the Marlins had a tough time against the Marlins, as they lost two out of three games.
In that series, the struggles of Edison Volquez continued, as he only made it three innings in his start. The Marlins need Volquez to improve, as he has an ERA close to 5.00 so far this season. After dropping the series to the Mariners, the Marlins were able to rebound and win their weekend series against the San Diego Padres.
After splitting the first two games in San Diego, Miami was able to come back from being down 3-0 to win the rubber game. A six-run sixth inning was capped off by a Justin Bour three-run home run to help secure the win for Miami.
The Marlins will be finishing off their road trip on the east coast against the red hot Phillies before finally getting to go home for a weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Even though they have a better record than the Phillies, the great week for the Phillies helped them jump the Marlins for this week.
