New York Knicks Team Awards For 2016-17 Regular Season
Most Valuable Player: None
It is difficult to pick a most valuable player on a team that won 31 games and disappointed as greatly as the Knicks did. They had bright spots at times, but there is no one player that stands out, or else the Knicks would have had a more successful season.
Carmelo Anthony could be in consideration as the best player on the team. Dealing with Jackson and not jumping ship is reason enough. But he looked disinterested at times, and this is exactly what he pushed Jackson for; add veterans to get back into the postseason.
Many people will pick Kristaps Porzingis. Porzingis did take some steps forward, but there is still a lot of work to do. His scoring and efficiency improved, but his rebounding dropped despite playing more minutes than his rookie season. He also has to stay healthy; he missed 16 games this season. He also has a long way to go defensively. Outside of protecting the rim he needs work.
Courtney Lee was a consummate professional throughout the dysfunctional season. He was a good soldier for Jeff Hornacek despite the division between management, coaching staff, and roster. Without a veteran like Lee, it is tough to imagine how the Knicks would have looked at times.

Players all have their bright spots, but the low lights definitely outnumbered them in the 2016-17 season. No one stood out this season to be recognized as an MVP.
