New York Knicks Team Awards For 2016-17 Regular Season
Sixth Man of The Year: Justin Holiday
The Knicks bench was a problem at times during the season. Injuries caused constantly shuffling to the rotation, but the one consistent was Holiday. Holiday was the only player to appear in all 82 games for the Knicks this season and is their Sixth Man of the Year.
Holiday was regarded as a throw-in by many people in the Derrick Rose trade; he came over from the Chicago Bulls with Rose. He turned out to be an important player for the Knicks. He had a consistent role right from the beginning of the season and made the most of his first real playing time in his career.
Holiday had a nose for the ball, coming up with big rebounds at the end of games. He was a willing defender, something the Knicks could use more of. He stretched the floor offensive, knocking down 35.5 percent of his three-pointers and showcased a solid offensive game overall.
Holiday is a great team player. He averaged 7.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He is going to be a free agent, so hopefully, the Knicks can retain him as he proved to be a solid rotation player. Holiday could be in the MVP discussion if he can convince his brother Jrue Holiday to sign with the Knicks.
The Holiday brothers want to play together and they are both free agents this summer. If the Knicks could land both of them, their roster would greatly improve.
