The New York Mets had a tough series against the Miami Marlins on the road. However, Terry Collins had a message for his team.

The four-game series against the Miami Marlins didn’t go too well for the New York Mets. In the first game of the series, the Mets were able to win a long 16-inning game. However, they followed that win by losing three straight games to a division foe.

Following the big win in extra innings, the Mets went on to lose three games by a combined four runs. Over the weekend, there were a few tough losses, but Sunday might have stung the most.

After being no-hit for most of the game, the Mets were able to finally get something together in the ninth inning against David Phelps. With a few base hits in a row and a timely hit by Asdrubal Cabrera, the Mets were able to tie the game.

Unfortunately for the Mets, their comeback didn’t last long, as they allowed a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth. Despite the loss, manager Terry Collins had a positive message for the Mets

"“I just told the guys, ‘We came on the road a .500 team, we’re going home above .500,'” Collins said to Abbey Mastracco of NJ.com. “We’ve got to take that as a positive, not a negative. Should we have won more? Maybe. But we didn’t and we can’t worry about that. So now we’ve got to get ready for the upcoming games.”"

Overall, the Mets did well on the road trip, as they were able to win four out of the seven games. However, they ended it losing three straight in pretty tough fashion.

Now, the Mets will be heading home for a lengthy homestand against the Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, and Atlanta Braves. Having the day off on Monday will certainly come in handy for the Mets, as they could use a breather after a tough series in Miami.
