The New York Mets suffered a heart-breaking loss to the Miami Marlins on Easter in walk-off fashion

3. Final. 4. 82. 2

On Easter Sunday, the New York Mets suffered a tough loss to the Miami Marlins after a great comeback.

The Marlins were able to strike quickly in the first inning with the speed of Dee Gordon. As the first batter, Gordon tested Matt Harvey’s hamstring quickly with a bunt down the first base line. Harvey got off the mound quickly, but he was unable to get the speedy Gordon.

With Gordon’s ability to steal on first base, Harvey attempted to pick him off first base. However, a poor throw went past Lucas Duda, and Gordon was able to advance to third. With no outs and Gordon on third, the Marlins were able to knock him home with a RBI ground out.

With a one-run lead early, Dan Straily was able to give the Marlins a very nice start. Straily didn’t allow a hit for 5.1 innings, but he did walk five batters. The Mets had a good opportunity to score after Straily left, but they were unable to get a hit with two runners on.

In the sixth inning, the Marlins were able to extend their lead against the Mets. Marcel Ozuna hit an RBI double that scored Christian Yelich. However, the Mets were able to throw out Justin Bour at the plate thanks to a really poor slide by Bour.

Harvey’s day ended after six innings, but it was a pretty solid outing for him. Unfortunately, the Mets’ offense didn’t help him at all in the game. In the eighth inning, the Mets were finally able to get their first hit of the game, as Neil Walker hit a base hit against Brad Ziegler.

In the ninth inning, the Mets’ offense finally came alive. Hits by Travis d’Arnaud and Wilmer Flores resulted in the Mets having runners on second and third with two outs. Asdrubal Cabrera hit a clutch single to score them both and tie the game.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Marlins were able to defeat the Mets with a walk-off home run by JT Riddle. After the great comeback, this loss will leave a sour taste in their mouth.
