The New Jersey Devils didn’t make the playoffs last season, as their star forward wasn’t 100% healthy for part of the season.

One of the big moves for the New Jersey Devils this past offseason was the trade that brought forward Taylor Hall to New Jersey. The Devils were in a desperate need for offense, and Hall certainly was a good addition.

Sadly for Hall, his first season in New Jersey resulted in the Devils having one of the worst records in the NHL this season. Individually, Hall played well this season, but he suffered a torn meniscus that cost him eight games. Even though Hall was able to return extremely quickly from knee surgery, he wasn’t quite 100 percent.

"“It probably affected me for 15, 20 games where I maybe wasn’t 100 percent,” Hall said Tuesday to Chris Ryan of NJ.com. “I think every guy in the league goes through those things and no one is 100 percent healthy at the end of a year. Not really a huge excuse for me. Not a cop out by any means.”"

Now that it is the offseason, Hall is looking forward to getting completely healthy. As a building block for the Devils, having Hall at 100 percent for next season is important.

"“Looking forward to taking some time off and making sure that I’m 100 percent healthy before I start my summer workouts,” Hall said to Ryan. “Fifteen, 20 games or so probably wasn’t 100 percent with the knee. Other than that, I was fine.”"

In his first season with the Devils, Hall was able to total 53 points, which was tied for first on the team. Hall was able to lead the Devils in assists, and also totaled 20 goals.

If not for the knee injury, Hall likely would have had a better season for New Jersey. However, the addition of Hall will help the Devils continue their rebuild next season.
