The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the teams in the NFL that appear to be getting close to turning it around as a franchise. In the past few years, the Jaguars have done well in free agency, and also in the NFL Draft.

Even though they have the makings of a team that can turn it around, they still had a Top-5 pick this season. While that isn’t good, it will land them a great player in defensive lineman Jonathan Allen from Alabama.

Allen really turned out to be a star at Alabama the past few seasons. In 2015, Allen totaled 12 sacks as a junior. He followed that up in his senior season by totaling 10.5 sacks on a great Alabama defense.

So far this offseason, the Jaguars signed A.J. Bouye, Calais Campbell, and Barry Church most notably. These signings should help a defense that has some talent on it already.  With the addition of Allen to the defensive line, the Jaguars have the makings of a Top-10 defense heading into 2017.

If it wasn’t for other great defensive lineman, Allen could easily be taken earlier in the draft. While teams ahead of the Jaguars may have him higher than Solomon Thomas on their draft boards, this is good value for the Jaguars with the fourth pick.
