New York Giants Select O.J. Howard In NFL Mock Draft 1.0
The Packers have a few needs they need to address in the 2017 NFL Draft. Cornerback, linebacker, and running back would all fall on that list. With their first round pick, the Packers address their need at linebacker by selecting the versatile Alvin Kamara out of Tennessee.
Kamara is as elusive as they come in this draft class. He can make defenders miss with ease, causing 23 missed tackles on 40 receptions last season. That is a skill that will translate to any level as Kamara can get extra yards by making defenders miss.
The Packers utilize their running backs in the passing game as much as anyone so you need to be able to catch the ball out of the backfield to succeed in their offense, which Kamara can do.
With Eddie Lacy and James Starks not on the roster, the Packers starter heading into the season is converted wide receiver, Ty Montgomery. They need to add someone there and accomplish that with Kamara.
Kamara has had some knee injuries in the past, so his physicals will be important to go over. He has the skill set to be a No.1 running back if need be and should fit in well with the offense the Packers like to run.
