The Dallas Cowboys had a fantastic 2016 season. After Tony Romo was injured in the preseason, rookie quarterback Dak Prescott was able to come in and have a great season. Prescott is now the quarterback of the present and future for the Cowboys. In addition to drafting Prescott last season, the Cowboys also drafted Ezekiel Elliott.

After struggling to draft well, the Cowboys have been doing very well in recent years. Their offense has been built through the draft, and they will lead the team for years to come. Now, it’s all about trying to improve the defense.

With the 28th pick in our mock draft, the Cowboys will be selecting one of the most interesting prospects in safety Jabril Peppers. At Michigan, Peppers played all over for Jim Harbaugh, but in the NFL it appears that Peppers will be a safety.

For the Cowboys, that will be just fine. Pairing Peppers with Bryon Jones at safety will give them two young and explosive players in the middle of their defense. Even though the Cowboys defense may not be great in 2017, the addition of Peppers would be a good one. The Cowboys will be competing for an NFC Title once again in 2017. However, improving their defense will be important for them to accomplish that.
