The Lions are pretty set offensively. With Matthew Stafford leading the way, we saw last season that the Lions are never out of a game. To take some pressure off Stafford and the offense we turn to the defensive side of the ball where Detroit covers two needs with McKinley.
McKinley has a lot of skills that make coaches drool when it comes to pass rushers. He is explosive with excellent measurables as well. Combine those two and you have what could be a monster pass rusher at the next level.
McKinley was productive during his time at UCLA. He led the Pac-12 in sacks and quarterback hits in conference play with 16. He was productive all over the formation, as he registered 32 pressures from the right side and 24 from the left. He also gets it done against the run, so he can be on the field in a multitude of situations.
Detroit received some of the worst production from linebackers last season based on Pro Football Focus grades. McKinley could help there or as an edge rusher depending on the package.
