Tennessee. Derek Barnett. 19. player. 48. . Defensive End

The Buccaneers are an up-and-coming team. They are putting together an explosive offense led by Jameis Winston. They added DeSean Jackson to go along with Mike Evans and Cameron Brate in the receiving game. Now, they just need to begin building a defense to go along with it and Barnett will be a piece of that equation.

Robert Ayers was the edge player that graded out positively for the Bucs last season. Barnett will give him a solid bookend along with William Gholston with Gerald McCoy and Chris Baker on the interior.

Barnett was very productive at Tennessee. He finished in the top three for graded edge rushers in college in both 2015 and 2016. He doesn’t have the prototypical size of an edge rusher, such as Myles Garrett, but the production speaks for itself.

He is a capable edge setter in the run game and knows how to disengage from blocks. Tampa Bay would be taking another step forward if they could land a player the caliber of Barnett.
