McDowell is the most talented interior pass-rusher in the draft, but he didn't play with the same passion and toughness this past season, which is a red flag. The veterans along the Giants' defensive line can show him how to be a pro.

Second Round Pick

In the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, both Kiper and McShay have the Giants selecting a player on the offensive side of the ball. Both have mocked the same player to the Giants, as they believe Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine will come off the board.

Another Oklahoma running back, Joe Mixon, has received a lot of attention this draft season because of the incident when he punched a female in the face. But, Perine deserves attention as well.

Here is what Kiper had to say about the selection.

"Perine is one of the toughest running backs I’ve seen in a while, and he’d be a great complementary pounder (5-11, 233) to Paul Perkins, whom the Giants took in the fifth round last year. Perine had 49 touchdown runs in three seasons for the Sooners."

McShay agreed with the selection, saying that Perine plowed through arm tackles at Oklahoma and would help take pressure off Perkins in the backfield.

Perine was extremely productive for the Sooners in three seasons. His skill set is exactly what the Giants are missing, as they need a power back for short yardage situations. Perine could fill that role right away with room to develop into a complete back.

If the Giants can land Perine in the second round, they will fill yet another hole on their roster and move them closer to being a contender. The more weapons Eli Manning has around him the better.
