The New York Yankees had a tough Saturday afternoon, as their ace struggled and their star catcher was injured.

After blowing a 5-1 lead on Friday night, the New York Yankees were able to get off to a strong start on Saturday afternoon. In the second inning, the Yankees were able to score two runs, as Ronald Torreyes was able to sneak a base hit through the right side to score Chase Headley and Aaron Hicks.

In the fourth inning, the Orioles were to get to Tanaka, as a single by Wellington Castillo scored Manny Machado for the Orioles’ first run of the game. The Orioles would load the bases later in the inning, but Tanaka was able to keep them from scoring.

The Yankees suffered a big scare as catcher Gary Sanchez was forced to leave the game early after a hard swing. Despite losing Sanchez in the inning, the Yankees were able to score two runs, as Austin Romine scored on a balk, and then Starlin Castro knocked in Jacoby Ellsbury with a RBI single.

Tanaka once again struggled in the fifth inning, as the Orioles cut into the lead with a RBI double by Machado. Following the double, the Orioles would score once again on a fielder’s choice RBI by Mark Trumbo. Tanaka was able to escape any further damage, but he only lasted five innings for the Yankees.

In the seventh inning, the Yankees went to Tommy Layne to try and get Chris Davis out. However, Davis got the best of Layne in the lefty/lefty matchup, as he hit a double. Joe Girardi quickly went to Dellin Betances against Mark Trumbo. However, Betances allowed a single, and the Orioles tied the game.

After the Orioles tied the game, Trumbo stole an important base against Betances. Then, Hyun Soo Kim knocked him in with a RBI single to take the lead. Against the talented Orioles bullpen, the Yankees were unable to get the lead back.
