Mets Offense Struggles

The Mets offense disappointed in a major way against the Braves to begin the season. They scored six runs in both games they won, but only a single run in the game they lost. They were lucky to score that many runs in the first game.

The Mets needed a turn to be overturned at home plate to get the scoring going. Wilmer Flores was originally ruled out at home, but after reviewing the play it was revealed that he beat the slide; Tyler Flower was lined up behind home plate for some reason. The Mets would score all six of their runs that inning.

The offense was better in support of Harvey. They scored two runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take the series. But consistency was still a problem. They managed only one run in the middle game, managing only five hits in 12 innings.

Jay Bruce had a good series, going 3-for-9 with two extra base hits and four walks drawn. Asdrubal Cabrera, Rene Rivera, and Travis d’Arnaud all also came out of the series with good batting averages. No one else on the roster is above the Mendoza-line of .200 after three games.
