Chase Headley Starts Hot

The 2016 season started off disastrously for Chase Headley. Headley struggled with his glove and it seemed to impact him at the plate. He didn’t have an extra-base hit until May 12th. The Yankees could not afford him to begin 2017 as poorly as 2016 and he made sure it didn’t happen again.

Headley has come out of the gates scorching. He wasted no time getting an extra-base hit, smacking a home run in his seventh at-bat and adding a double in the series finale. Overall, Headley went 7-for-11 in the series, adding two RBI, three runs, and one walk. He had at least two hits in every game.

That is exactly the kind of start the Yankees were looking for and Headley needed. With so many top prospects on the way, the players on the major league roster need to perform. The Yankees will not hesitate to make a move. Top prospect Gleyber Torres is playing three positions in the minor leagues, so if anyone struggles he should get a call-up.

Headley has begun the season looking like someone who does not want to lose his spot in the season. He will not hit .636 all season, but the Yankees have to be pleased with the start.
