New York Mets: Noah Syndergaard Named Must-Watch Player in 2017

The New York Mets have plenty of great players, but who is their must-watch player as the 2017 season has begun?

The New York Mets have a lot of talent heading into the 2017 season. On offense, outfielder Yoenis Cespedes has helped the Mets’ offense a ton as a bonafide MVP candidate in the National League.

Since joining the Mets, Cespedes has been the elite player that they have desperately needed in the middle of the lineup. Even with some injuries last season, Cespedes was able to have a great season for the Mets, as he was rewarded with a long-term deal in the offseason.

While Cespedes might be the most must-watch player on offense, the Mets have a few good choices in their starting rotation. When healthy, the Mets have arguably the best rotation in baseball with Noah Syndergaard, Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Steven Matz, and Zack Wheeler. Unfortunately, injuries have plagued them in recent years, but they are still very exciting to watch.

Recently, David Schoenfield of ESPN.com listed the most must-watch players for every team. For the Mets, his choice was none other than Syndergaard. Here’s what Schoenfield had to say about the choice.

"You worry that maybe, like late-career Nolan Ryan, the hype exceeds the actual results. But, like Ryan, Syndergaard is so unique, so potentially dominant, that you feel every outing has the chance to be something wonderful and amazing."

Even though there are great players on the Mets, Syndergaard is certainly the most exciting. As a tall power pitcher on the mound, he is an intimidating force for the Mets.

While last year was his first full season with the Mets, he was their Opening Day starter this season, and he appears to be the ace of the staff. As both a great player on the field and an entertaining person off of it, Syndergaard is certainly the most must-watch player in 2017 for the Mets.
