The New York Giants were a disappointment on offense last season. However, head coach ben McAdoo doesn’t care about scoring.

Coming into the 2016 season, the New York Giants were expected to have one of the best offenses in the NFL. With Eli Manning, Odell Beckham Jr, Victor Cruz, and Sterling Shepard, the Giants were expected to score some points this season.

Despite the talent, the Giants actually had one of the worst scoring offenses in the NFL last season. Prior to becoming the head coach, McAdoo was the offensive coordinator for the Giants, and the offense performed better.

Even though he became the head coach, McAdoo kept play-calling duties. This became a discussion when the Giants’ offense began to struggle. However, McAdoo doesn’t care about points. The only number he cares about is wins.

"“There’s only one number that counts,” McAdoo said to Dan Duggan of NJ.com.“It’s a team game,” McAdoo said to Duggan. “It’s about complementary football.”"

Even though McAdoo doesn’t care about how many points the offense scores, he does care about protecting the football. With a great defense expected once again in 2017, the Giants must avoid mistakes that set that side of the ball up for failure.

"“We’ve got to take care of the ball better, that’s No. 1,” McAdoo said to Duggan. “We have to sustain and finish blocks better, that’s No. 2. And then we have to give ourselves and opportunity to convert on third down. Our line to gain on third down, I think we were third-best in the league on offense and we need to give ourselves an opportunity to convert more.”"

Even though McAdoo might not care about how many points the team scores, the offense has to be better in 2017. In a few games, the offense really hung the defense out to dry against poor defenses like the Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns.

This offseason, the Giants did sign Brandon Marshall, who is an upgrade over Victor Cruz. While having good weapons is important, the Giants need to get better production from their offensive line. If Manning doesn’t have time, the Giants offense will look similar to what it did last season.
