Devin Robinson

One of the emerging stars in the NCAA Tournament has been Gators forward Devin Robinson. With the struggles of Allen in the last two games, it has been Robinson who has helped pick up the slack. During the regular season, Robinson was the third leading scorer on the Gators, but in the tournament, he has really elevated his play.

In the first round, Robinson was a dominant force. He was able to total 24 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. The ease in which Robinson was able to score the 24 points was impressive as well, as he shot 10-for-17 from the field and an efficient two-for-four from three-point range. For a player to double his season average in points on the big stage of March Madness is extremely impressive.

Following the strong game in the first round, Robinson backed it up with a double-double against Virginia. In the easy win for Florida, Robinson totaled 14 points and 11 rebounds. The emergence of Robinson has really helped Florida so far in the NCAA Tournament. If Robinson can continue to play above his normal level, the Gators might be able to weather the storm of Allen’s struggles. If Allen can get going with Robinson playing the way he is, Florida might be the team to beat in the East Region.
