The New York Mets have decided on where Tim Tebow will be beginning the season. Where did the Mets place him in their system?

One of the big storylines for the New York Mets this spring has been Tim Tebow. As one of the best college football players of all-time, Tebow didn’t have the success in the NFL as he did in college.

Even though Tebow failed in the NFL as a quarterback, there is no denying that he is a great athlete. In high school, Tebow was an excellent baseball player, but he obviously chose to play football over baseball.

Now, Tebow is trying to achieve the impossible. After not playing baseball for so long, jumping back into the game is challenging. Also, trying to hit 95 mph fastballs and knee-buckling curveballs is something that even major leaguers struggle to do.

This spring, Tebow was able to total a .200 batting average in 20 at-bats over the course of seven games. Even though these numbers don’t jump off the page, it is pretty impressive for a player that has barely played. As of now, the Mets are placing Tebow in the Single-A affiliate.

"“For me, it really didn’t matter, just go and continue the process and try to work and improve and be excited for the opportunity and just compete,” Tebow said to Mike Puma of the New York Post."

Tebow’s best game of the spring came against the St. Louis Cardinals, as he was able to total two hits, and made some nice catches in the outfield.

"“That was a fun game,” Tebow said to Puma. “Getting a chance to make a couple of diving catches for some pretty awesome pitchers is cool and I wish I would have made one [today]. There will be more chances.”"

Even though it is the bottom of the Mets’ organization, Single-A will give Tebow a chance to grow. It was impossible to think he would instantly be a major league player, but he can certainly work towards that over the next couple of years.

For the Mets, placing him there was certainly the right decision. Now, we will wait to see how he develops as a baseball player over the course of this minor league season.
