New York Giants Rumors: Jason Pierre-Paul Denies Signing Extension
By Nick Ziegler
Recent New York Giants rumors are that the team and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul have reached an agreement on a contract extension.
There haven’t been too many New York Giants rumors this offseason, as they were a bit strapped for cash this offseason. Last offseason, the Giants spent a lot of money on the defensive side of the ball.
One of the players that they signed was defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. After the fireworks injury, Pierre-Paul was given a one-year deal last season to prove what he could do. In a contract year, Pierre-Paul played very well.
In 12 games, Pierre-Paul totaled seven sacks and three forced fumbles. He did have his season cut short because of an injury late in the season, but he certainly proved that he could still be an elite defensive end after the hand injury.
This offseason, one of the first things the Giants did was use their franchise tag on Pierre-Paul. Now, it is being reported by Ian Rapoport that the Giants and Pierre-Paul have reached an agreement on a new contract.
Despite Rapoport and others reporting that Pierre-Paul has agreed on a contract, Pierre-Paul has insisted on his Twitter that he hasn’t.
This is certainly an interesting development, as pretty much every media outlet has reported that he has reached a deal. If he has, this is certainly a huge move for the Giants. Even though he has had some injury issues, Pierre-Paul has been a great pass-rusher for the Giants.

Alongside Oliver Vernon last season, Pierre-Paul and he were one of the best duos in the NFL. With Pierre-Paul refuting the reports, it will be interesting to see if a deal is actually done. Getting the franchise tag off of Pierre-Paul is certainly an important thing for the Giants. Furthermore, they appear like they want to lock him up to a long-term deal. Now we just have to wait and see if they did.
