Antonio Pierce, Linebacker

No question about it, Antonio Pierce is the best free agent the Giants have ever signed. Pierce was signed in 2005 after a four-year career with the Washington Redskins, and made an immediate impact on the Giants defense.

He was thrust into the middle linebacker position in New York, and thrived for five years. Pierce was the vocal leader of the Giants, and in five years, he played all 75 games. Pierce also played in six postseason games, and helped lead the team to one of the biggest upsets in sports history against the Patriots in 2008.

Pierce’s football I.Q. was unbelievable. His ability to read a play during the pre-snap was amazing, and it shows in his numbers.

As a Giant, Pierce had 375 tackles, seven sacks, and four interceptions to boot. He had one Pro Bowl appearance in 2006, and was the team captain for three years, one of which was during the Super Bowl run in 2008.

Pierce is without a doubt the most valuable signing the Giants have ever made. He was a major reason the Giants were able to experience defensive dominance for years. He held down the middle of a championship team, and was in the middle of one of the toughest divisions in football for five years.
