Plaxico Burress, Wide Receiver

Plaxico could be one of the best free agent wide receivers the Giants will ever sign, but does not rank too high because of how his career ended.

Throughout his career Burress had some staggering numbers, but he had some of his best years with the Giants. After coming over from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Burress had 244 receptions, and 33 touchdowns in 57 regular season games.

Of course, Burress will always be remembered for his heroic catch at the end of Super Bowl XLII. Manning drops back, looks to the corner, he’s got Burress… touchdown! That catch led the Giants to one of the biggest upsets in NFL history.

He was one of the most dominant receivers in the game when he was a part of the Giants, and he helped develop Eli Manning into a very good quarterback. Burress just made an unbelievably stupid move the top of his game, which put him in jail, and ultimately ended his career.

If Burress doesn’t have an abrupt ending to his career, who knows what he could have done in those last couple of years? The speculation could go on forever, but as it stands, Burress is still one of the best signings the Giants have ever had.
