Angel Delgado

Delgado was a big time prospect when he started at Seton Hall in 2014-15. He didn’t make as big a jump as Seton Hall was hoping during his sophomore year, as his stats didn’t improve much. But, he has taken that step during his junior year and has turned into a monster inside for the Pirates.

Delgado is averaging an impressive 15.7 points and 13.1 rebounds, which leads the Big East. He also adds two assists per game as the Pirates are capable of running their offense through him. He gives Seton Hall a strong presence inside to play off the impressive perimeter play of Desi Rodriguez and Khadeen Carrington.

Delgado has 25 double-doubles this season, recording one in 12 consecutive games. He has two games this season with at least 20 rebounds and has gone for at least 15 a total of 11 times. If the Pirates are to advance and defend their conference championship they will need Delgado’s streak to continue.

He will have a good matchup this afternoon against Marquette senior Luke Fischer. With how perimeter orientated the game of basketball has become, it will be interesting to see a game that can be determined by interior play.
