New York Yankees: Top 5 Players Thus Far In Spring Training
Tyler Wade
Tyler Wade… have a spring young man! Wade has shined so far for the Yankees, and if he wasn’t one of your top call-ups at the start of Spring Training, he should be now.
Wade has been raking for the Yankees through ten games, and he doesn’t look like he is stopping anytime soon. He is batting a whopping .429 and has come in clutch for the Yankees with one walk-off hit against the Rays.
Wade did not have a stellar season in the minors last year but did begin to show promise down the stretch. He batted .259, with five home runs, and 27 runs batted in last season, but he is showing signs of being a real MLB talent.
The only problem is… where do the Yankees put him?
He is listed as a shortstop, and with guys like Didi Gregorious and Jorge Mateo ahead of him, his future in pinstripes looks dim. That being said, he has a great arm. If he can transition into a third baseman, Wade would find himself with an opportunity to platoon the hot corner with Miguel Andujar in the future.
Wade’s spring could be integral in his dream to make it to the majors, and only time will tell if he can stay with the Yankees for good.
