New York Giants: 6 Signings To Make To Ace Free Agency
Eddie Lacy
The Giants decided to move on from veteran Rashad Jennings. They look to ready to hand the early down duty over to Paul Perkins, and still have veteran Shane Vereen on the roster. The Giants would benefit from signing a veteran to help take the load off Perkins and give some insurance in case Vereen isn’t healthy.
Lacy does not come without concerns of his own. He has battled weight problems and had ankle surgery this past season. But, when he was on the field he produced. Lacy averaged 5.1 yards per carry before getting injured and looked well on his way to a bounce-back season.
Heading into free agency coming off an injury is a downer for Lacy, but a situation a team such as the Giants can take advantage of. He struggled in 2015 as well, so there isn’t much good tape on Lacy since 2014.
That will drive down his price and something the Giants should take advantage of. Getting an early down banger would be a good investment to help replace Jennings. Lacy has also shown an ability to catch the ball out of the backfield previously, making him an even more attractive target.
Other names to keep an eye on in the backfield are LeGarrette Blount, Adrian Peterson, and Jamaal Charles.
