Keenan Robinson

Linebacker is seemingly a need position every season. They have lacked an impact middle linebacker since Antonio Pierce and have not selected a linebacker in the first round since 1984 when they selected Carl Banks; it just isn’t a position Jerry Reese puts many assets in.

That is unlikely to change this season. While signing a player such as Dont’a Hightower would be great, the Giants are unlikely to be able to afford him; the New England Patriots are also making him a priority. He would greatly upgrade the second level of the Giants, but will probably be out of the Giants price range.

So, why not save some money and bring back a familiar face in Robinson? Robinson played well for the Giants last season after coming over from the rival Washington Redskins. He knows the system and helps the Giants in nickel formations. He was also healthy, a welcome change from his health record with the Redskins.

This will probably be where the Giants look to save some money, and Robinson would accomplish that. If they are looking for a more established player they could give some attention to Lawrence Timmons. If they want more of a pass rusher, Alex Okafor could fit the bill.
