A.J. Bouye

Another cornerback option for the Jets this offseason will be A.J. Bouye of the Houston Texans. Due to injuries, Bouye was given a chance to shine in Houston this past season. On one of the best defenses in the NFL, Bouye was a standout player and became a household name at cornerback.

According to Pro Football Focus, Bouye graded as the third-best cornerback in the NFL this offseason. In addition to being the ranked as the third best overall cornerback, Bouye was also ranked third in coverage. After seeing wide receivers torch the Jets all season, Bouye would give them a true No.1 cornerback.

While Bouye was great last season, there has to be some concern about it being him being a one-year wonder. Due to the Jets being a team that is rebuilding, investing in a free agent that has some bust potential is risky. However, Bouye could also be a difference-maker in the secondary for years to come.

There is without a doubt a need for the Jets at the cornerback position. Maccagnan used to be with the Houston Texans when Bouye was a young player there. If the Jets pursue him, Maccagnan should have a good feel for what type of layer Bouye can be for the Jets.
