It was rather obvious after the first few weeks of the season that the Jets had a really poor secondary. The rapid decline of Darrelle Revis became apparent, and the Jets didn’t have much else at the position.

This offseason, the Jets are going to need to address the cornerback position. Also, it shouldn’t be surprising to see the Jets look to acquire multiple players at the position once again. In Maccagnan’s first offseason as the general manager, he went on a spending spree for cornerbacks. Unfortunately, all that money spent didn’t turn out to be a good move.

One of the biggest names that is available at cornerback this offseason is Stephon Gilmore of the Buffalo Bills. The Bills made the decision not to use the franchise tag on Gilmore, as he will test the waters of free agency.

Even though he is coming off of a down season, he is still one of the top cornerbacks available. With a need at the position, the Jets might be willing to give Gilmore a substantial contract despite a down season in 2016. At just 26-years-old, giving Gilmore a long-term contract would give the Jets a solid young cornerback for years to come.
