Martellus Bennett

One of the most glaring weaknesses for the Jets in recent years has been their production from the tight end position. While there aren’t a lot of great tight ends on the market this season, there is one that could certainly help the Jets.

After being acquired by the New England Patriots last offseason, Bennett was able to have a great bounce-back season in 2016. In 2016, Bennett totaled 55 receptions, 701 receiving yards, and seven receiving touchdowns. Bennett would be a huge addition for the Jets in the passing game, as they haven’t had a tight end of his caliber in years.

Due to the Jets possibly having a young quarterback under center to start the 2017 season, having a great tight end would help their development. With the Jets letting Brandon Marshall go, they will need to add some weapon to the offense to help replace him.

In addition to being a factor in the passing offense, he was also a good pass blocker for the Patriots last season. However, Bennett didn’t perform as well as he could have as a run blocker.

Due to the great season, the price for Bennett will not be cheap. However, the Jets investing in a tight end makes a lot of sense considering how poor they have been at that position in recent years.
