One of the intriguing options for the Jets this offseason is Brian Hoyer. After three seasons with the Patriots, Hoyer has bounced around a bit the past four seasons. Despite playing on three teams the past four seasons, Hoyer hasn’t played all that bad.

In 31 career starts, Hoyer actually has a winning record at 16-15. Also, his statistics are pretty good. In his career, he has totaled 44 touchdown passes and 26 interceptions. With nearly a 2:1 ratio, Hoyer would be a big improvement in that department for the Jets.

Last season, Hoyer was playing pretty well for the Chicago Bears prior to getting injured. In five starts, Hoyer totaled a 1-4 record. However, he played well with six touchdown passes and zero interceptions. The record wasn’t great for Hoyer as a starter last season, but a lot of that was due to the team he was playing on.

While Hoyer would certainly be a capable backup if the Jets went with one of the young quarterbacks, he would also be able to give them a push in training camp. With neither Petty or Hackenberg being given the starting job, pushing the young players with a guy like Hoyer would be a good move. If Hoyer won the training camp battle, he is more than capable of being the starting quarterback for the Jets in 2017.
