– Geno Smith

While some might not want Geno Smith to return to the Jets, he should certainly be an option this offseason. Prior to the altercation with a teammate in the locker room in 2015, Smith was the starting quarterback of the Jets.

Due to the success of Ryan Fitzpatrick after taking over the starting role, Smith understandably lost his job. Smith did finally get a chance to start again in 2016 when the Jets were beginning to struggle. Against the Baltimore Ravens, Smith was named the starting quarterback. Sadly, he suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Despite not having the best statistics, Smith still has a lot of potential. He has a strong arm with the ability to make plays outside of the pocket. It was just a few years ago that he was a second round pick in the NFL Draft, and he will certainly be playing somewhere next season.

One of the concerns with Smith would be if he would be ready for the regular season, After undergoing surgery, it appears the Smith is on track to be ready for the start of the season. Signing Smith wouldn’t cost the Jets a lot, and he would be able to give them somewhat of a veteran starter.
