– Josh McCown

Another veteran option for the Jets in free agency will be Josh McCown. Like Hill, McCown is north of 35-years-old, but he can still play if needed in a pinch. Last season, McCown was one of the many starters on the Cleveland Browns. He totaled a 0-3 record with six touchdown passes and six interceptions. Throughout his career, McCown has been a bit of a gunslinger, as his touchdown to interception ratio isn’t as good as Hill’s.

While both have been backups for most of their careers, McCown does a more experience as a starter. In his career, McCown has started in 60 games, but his record is an undesirable 18-42 in those starts.

Even though McCown hasn’t had much success as a starter, he is capable of doing it on a limited basis. With all of the uncertainty at the quarterback position, McCown would be a cheap veteran option to either start or be a backup for the Jets.

If the Jets end up starting Petty or Hackenberg, having a player like McCown behind them would be a good thing. As shown in Cleveland, McCown is willing to be the backup. Also, he has shown a willingness to help the young quarterbacks develop.
