With two young quarterbacks on the Jets, adding a veteran to be their mentor and backup could be the route that the team chooses to go in. If they do, quarterback Shaun Hill would be a solid option for them.

At 37-years-old, Hill obviously wouldn’t be a signing for the future, but he could be one that helps the Jets in the future. Developing young quarterbacks has been something that the team has really struggled with in recent years. While most of that will go on the coaching staff, having a veteran on the team can also have a big impact on a young player.

If the Jets decide that they want to start either Petty, Hackenberg, or both in 2017, adding Hill would be a solid addition. In his career, Hill has totaled a 17-18 record, 49 touchdown passes, and 30 interceptions. Seeing the solid touchdown to interception ratio is certainly something that the Jets would like their young quarterbacks to learn.

Last season, Hill was able to start and win a game for the Minnesota Vikings. Despite his age, Hill can still play a bit. The Jets wouldn’t want him starting a full season in New York, but he would have value as a veteran presence.
