Matt Kalil: OT

The former fourth overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft appears to be heading to the free agent market. An injury that coast Kalil his 2016 season could benefit the Jets in 2017 as the injury has hurt his free agent stock.

While Kalil may not have lived up to being the fourth overall selection, he has made a Pro Bowl and would be a day one starter at either the left or right tackle positions. The Jets could offer the 27-year-old a one year “prove it” type of deal or give Kalil a contract with minimal guaranteed to salary if the team decides to move on from him in the future.

With other big tame left tackles like Russell Okung and Kelvin Beachum on the market, Kalil could be forgotten in the shuffle. While the hip injury is a concern, the fact is that while this draft class is deep on defense and offensive weapons, it is weak in offensive line prospects.

The need for both a left and right tackle, along with the reduced asking price for Kalil makes an ideal free agent to help bolster the dilapidated offensive line.
