Knicks Rumors: Team to Pursue Jrue Holiday This Offseason
By Nick Ziegler
Recent New York Knicks rumors have been about their possible interest in free agent point guard Jrue Holiday.
Recently, there have been plenty of New York Knicks rumors about what direction the franchise is going in.
At the trade deadline, the Knicks shockingly didn’t make any moves. They likely would have liked to trade Carmelo Anthony, but his no-trade clause made it very difficult to do so. In addition to trying to trade Anthony, the Knicks also tried to move their two point guards.
Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings both had their names mentioned in trade rumors at the deadline. However, neither was dealt.
Just recently, the Knicks decided to waive Jennings, as it signaled that the team is beginning to give up on competing for this season. Even though Rose wasn’t traded, it doesn’t appear that the Knicks will be interested in signing him to a long-term contract in the offseason.
According to Ian Begley of ESPN.com, the Knicks will be pursuing point guard Jrue Holiday as a free agent this offseason. Here’s what Begley had to say about the Knicks’ interest in Holiday.
"League sources familiar with the matter say that some in the Knicks organization view Holiday as a target in free agency this summer. Team president Phil Jackson expressed interest in trading for Holiday earlier in his tenure, so the Knicks’ current interest in him makes sense. Holiday will likely have plenty of suitors, though."
Even though the Knicks are interested in Holiday, that doesn’t mean that the feeling is mutual. In recent years, the Knicks have had major issues trying to sign free agents.

With all of the losing the past few seasons, the Knicks haven’t been a desirable team to play for. Holiday will be one of the best point guards available in free agency. In all likelihood, he will have more appealing suitors than the Knicks in the offseason.
