New York Knicks Surprisingly Waive Point Guard Brandon Jennings
By Nick Ziegler
According to reports, the New York Knicks have waived point guard Brandon Jennings.
The disappointing season for the New York Knicks has not only bothered the fans, but also the players.
This offseason, the Knicks were able to sign Brandon Jennings to a very friendly deal. After the trade that brought in Derrick Rose, and the signings of Joakim Noah and Courtney Lee, the Knicks looked like they were going to be able to compete this year.
Point guard Brandon Jennings wanted to play for a winning team, and he thought that would be in New York. Prior to the trade deadline, the Knicks explored trading Jennings. However, nothing came about from that. Unfortunately, the Knicks aren’t going to be winning anything this season, and they have waived Jennings.
In New York, Jennings has played well this season. He averaged 8.6 points, 4.9 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game off the bench. Few players on the Knicks showed more effort than Jennings on a nightly basis. He was frequently outspoken about trying to help get the team on track. However, the Knicks were never able to live up to their preseason expectations.
Now, Jennings will be able to sign with a contender, as he attempts to help a team win. He can certainly be a valuable player on a title contender, as he is instant offense off the bench.
For the Knicks, the decision to waive Jennings allows them to sign point guard Chasson Randle. Many liked what they saw from Randle in the preseason, and it appears like he will be getting a chance to impress for the rest of the regular season.

After staying pat at the trade deadline, it was pretty surprising to see the Knicks waive Jennings. It was hard to tell what direction the Knicks were going in after the deadline, but the decision to waive Jennings also indicates the Knicks waving the white flag on the season.
