Awkward Aftermath Of Trade Deadline

The trade deadline brings a lot of emotions and feelings out of people. Players are on edge not knowing if they will be living in a different city, having to uproot their family. Front offices feverishly work the phones trying to wheel and deal. With all of the smoke now settled there may be some awkward situations.

The Knicks, as rumor would have it, seemed pretty active during the deadline. As mentioned earlier, there were at least five players mentioned as possible targets for other teams or players the Knicks dangled; that does not even include Anthony, who has been the talk of trades for what seems like months.

For a team like the Knicks that ended up not making any moves, there will be some explaining to do. Someone like Rose, who was already in an awkward setting, most of which were by his own doing, can’t feel comfortable with the Knicks. There was some animosity from his AWOL incident and he made some comments about the team’s offense hours before the deadline. He ended up staying put, which has to make for some awkward situations.

For players such as O’Quinn, the team was openly shopping him and didn’t find any takers. He can’t feel great coming back to a team that was looking to move him and was unable to do so.

This could motivate some players, and bring a team closer together, or make them even less interested in playing. It could go either way with this Knicks team, as they have looked locked in at times, but just as often, if not more, look disinterested on the court.
