New York Giants: Landon Collins Named as Top 25 Player Under 25
By Nick Ziegler
Landon Collins of the New York Giants is one of the best young players in the NFL. Where does he rank against other players under 25-years-old?
The New York Giants had a very successful 2016 season. One of the reasons why was because of the play of their defense. This past offseason, the Giants spent a lot of money on free agents to help improve what was one of the worst defenses in the league in 2015.
In addition to the surge of talent, one of their own really improved. After struggling in his rookie season, safety Landon Collins drastically improved in his second season. Collins quickly emerged as a playmaker for the Giants’ defense, as a change in his position and playing style really helped him improve.
Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus recently ranked the Top 25 players under 25. Collins came in ranked 5th. Here’s what Monson had to say about Collins.
"After a rookie season in which he looked lost at free safety playing deep in coverage, Collins was moved to strong safety this season and has been a revelation. Playing closer to the line of scrimmage, Collins has been everywhere for the Giants this season and had a legitimate Defensive Player of the Year-caliber season. Collins had eight more defensive stops than any other safety this season and picked off five passes."
Collins being ranked fifth is certainly quite the accomplishment after struggling in his rookie season. The players that were ahead of him are some of the best in the NFL at their respective positions.

Along with Collins on the list was his teammate Odell Beckham Jr. With Beckham ranked first and Collins ranked fifth, the future is obviously bright for the Giants. Having two great players on the each side of the ball should help the Giants continue to be a playoff team.
