Devils Rumors: Kyle Quincey, P.A. Parenteau Likely To Be Traded
New Jersey Devils rumors: If the Devils cannot work their way into a playoff spot, expect them to be active unloading rental players before the trade deadline.
New Jersey Devils rumors are heating up with the NHL Trade Deadline quickly approaching. The Devils have some work to do if they want to qualify for the postseason as they currently have 58 points in 56 games; the Toronto Maple Leafs are currently in the last Wild Card spot with 63 points in 56 games.
Making the playoffs isn’t out of the realm of possibilities, but the Devils would need some luck. Three teams, the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders and Florida Panthers are between the Maple Leafs and Devils.
If the Devils are unable to get back into the playoff picture by the March 1st trade deadline, expect them to be active on the trade market. Two players to keep an eye on are pending free agents Kyle Quincey and P.A. Parenteau.

Pierre LeBrun on ESPN said that the Devils are likely to move both should their playoff hopes look slim.
"Pending unrestricted free agents Kyle Quincey and P.A. Parenteau will likely be shipped out before March 1 unless the New Jersey Devils claw their way into a playoff spot. Quincey could be an under-the-radar add-on. The left-handed defenseman plays the right side and has averaged more than 18 minutes a night. And his cap hit ($1.25 million) is easy to digest."
Both players have played well for the Devils this season. Quincey would fit in well into a defensive rotation, and his cap hit, as LeBrun notes, would be easy for a team to take on. Quincey has 12 points on the season, four goals and eight assists, and is +5 on the season.
Parenteau was a late addition to the Devils, as the New York Islanders released him right before the regular season. The Devils have reaped the rewards, as the veteran right winger has played well for New Jersey. For the season, Parenteau has 25 points, registering 13 goals and 12 assists.
In a deal for either player the Devils would look to add to their war chest of draft picks. By dealing rental players such as Quincey and Parenteau, the Devils could add even more.

LeBrun said the Devils have 10 draft picks in the draft in June with multiple picks in the second, third and fourth rounds; they have two in rounds two and four and three in round three. Those picks can help the Devils facilitate trades during the offseason in hopes of upgrading their roster that is on the cusp of being a playoff team.
