Even after just two seasons the hot seat chatter about Todd Bowles in New York has already begun. With a locker room that spun out of control, Bowles could find himself seeking new employment if the Jets do not improve.

While Richardson was a reason for some of the locker room drama, that looks to be from frustration which might also be largely in part to the fact that he is playing out of position. The roster will be receiving a major makeover this offseason and while the secondary will probably be one of the positions overhauled, the front seven and more specifically the defensive line could remain intact.

With that being said, Bowles could rebound on the defensive side of the ball if the defensive line can wreak havoc. To do the team should transition to a 4-3 base defense. This would allow the big three on the defensive line to all play on the line while also putting Darron Lee in a weak side linebacker position that would be better suited for the 2016 first round pick.

If Bowles wants to return in 2018, he’ll need a better performance from the team, and with Richardson in a contract year on a line with Williams and Wilkerson, it could help the Jets defense that was woeful in 2016.
