Jets won’t get value they seek

When the Jets tried to trade Richardson they were seeking a first round pick as compensation. Now, many sources around the league feel the Jets would be lucky to get a third round pick for compensation.

While draft picks are valuable, and the Jets need as many as possible, trading elite talent for a mid round pick makes no sense. New York’s roster is devoid of talent so why trade one of their most talented players for a mid-round pick? With Richardson, the Jets know they have a defensive player the can be highly productive, why would they trade that for a third round pick that they hope will be a starter.

If a team were to offer a second round pick or a couple of mid round picks, it might make sense for the Jets to pull the trigger on a deal. However, if it’s just a single pick in the mid rounds, it doesn’t make sense trade a talented player for a pick that team’s general hope will be a starting player.
