5.) Brandon LaFell

One affordable option to replace Cruz would be to sign Brandon LaFell. At 30-years-old, LaFell still has some good football in him after a pretty solid 2016 season.

LaFell was a third-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in the 2010 NFL Draft. Although he never shined with the Panthers, he was a solid wide receiver for them. Where LaFell really shined was with the New England Patriots. In 2014, LaFell totaled career-highs with 74 receptions, 953 receiving yards, and seven receiving touchdowns.

After the great 2014 season, it was surprising to see LaFell struggled like he did in 2015 for the Patriots. In 11 games, LaFell totaled just 515 receiving yards, and he didn’t find the end zone once.

Last season, LaFell was able to have a bounce back year with the Cincinnati Bengals. Even though the Bengals struggled, LaFell played pretty well. He was able to total 64 receptions, 862 receiving yards, and six receiving touchdowns. With A.J. Green out at the end of the season, LaFell was able to have some big games as the No.1 option for Andy Dalton.

At 6’3” LaFell is an outside wide receiver. This would allow the Giants to move Shepard into the slot and have the makings of a really solid receiving corps.
