New York Giants: 5 Free Agent Replacements for Victor Cruz
By Nick Ziegler
The New York Giants have recently released wide receiver Victor Cruz. Who are some possible replacements for the wide receiver in free agency?
To no surprise, the New York Giants have made the decision to release wide receiver Victor Cruz. The move helps the Giants save a lot of money this offseason. However, it does create a need to add a wide receiver this offseason.
Last season, Cruz was able to make his come back after missing a year and a half of action because of injuries. Even though he didn’t produce for the Giants, he was able to play in 15 games. However, it was quite apparent that he wasn’t the same player that he once was.
With Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard on the roster, the Giants don’t need a star at wide receiver. Beckham is one of the top wide receivers in the NFL, and Shepard really played well in his rookie season. With issues on the offensive line, they will likely be looking for an affordable option. While that may come in the NFL Draft, free agency is also a possibility for the Giants.
This offseason, Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery headlines the wide receiver class. While Jeffery is certainly a talented wide receiver, he will likely be too much for the Giants to afford. Despite Jeffery being expensive, there are other talented wide receivers available that would compliment Beckham and Shepard nicely.
Here are five free agents that would be good fits for the Giants to replace Victor Cruz.
