Round 5: Josh Carraway: OLB: TCU

New York has been looking for a speed edge rusher and might find that specialist in Carraway. With eight sacks for the Horned Frogs in 2016, Carraway has proven that he has the speed to come off the edge and get to the quarterback.

Despite a lack of technique and trouble in the run game, Carraway’s blistering speed off the edge is something that coaches can’t teach. He may not be an every-down player in the NFL, but with the NFL now such a pass friendly league, even situational pass rushers have great value.

If the Todd Bowles can deploy Carraway effectively, he could give the defense a speed rusher off the edge which has been lacking.

Round 6: Stevie Tu’ikolovatu: DL: USC

The New York Jets made it clear that they are trying to move defensive end Sheldon Richardson after almost trading him to the Dallas Cowboys at the trade deadline. While Leonard Williams and Mohammad Wilkerson would still anchor the defensive end positions, the Jets could use some depth on the line especially if the trade Richardson.

Tu’ikolovatu is a mountain of a man at 350 pounds and could compete for the starting nose tackle position. If he is anything like his uncle and former Jet, Sione Pouha, he could be the Jets next version of Damon “Snacks” Harrison as a dominant nose tackle or defensive tackle in New York’s 3-4 and 4-3 schemes.

With 53 tackles for USC last year, he could be a valuable run stopper on the Jets defense for years to come.
