Sanchez’s end of 2016 dazzled fans all across the country. In 53 games Sanchez had 20 home runs, had 42 RBIs, and batted .299. The runner-up for American League Rookie of the Year became the fastest player to hit 11 home runs and tied the record for fastest player to hit 20 home runs.
Sanchez is quick with the bat, but his defensive intangibles are just as impressive. He is a very good in-game catcher, and his arm is an absolute cannon. His arm was part of the reason ESPN picked Sanchez as theplayer worth the price of admissionon the Yankees.
The Yankees have a future leader in Sanchez. He is going to be a mainstay in the Bronx, and Yankees fans should be excited for a full season with him behind the plate.
A good catcher has been a key component in the last few World Series teams.Buster Poseyfor the Giants,Yadier Molinafor the Cardinals, andSalvador Perezfor the Royals are all prime examples. Sanchez could be the core of a Yankees championship team, and he should be an outside favorite for the MVP award if he continues his production.
