New York Mets: Top 5 Reasons To Be Excited About 2017 Season

More Depth
Mainly due to the status of David Wright, depth is important for the Mets. While it is impossible to predict what kind of production Wright will give the Mets, one thing that they know for sure is that they can’t trust him.
In recent years, the Mets have gone into the season without the proper depth on their bench. Finally, the Mets’ organization appears to realize that they needed to have a better bench in case players like Wright get injured.
Last season, the Mets took a shot and brought back Jose Reyes. Despite being a shortstop for most of his career, Reyes proved that he could be a suitable backup for Wright. In addition to being able to play multiple positions on the infield, Reyes is also a true leadoff hitter. That, of course, is something that the Mets have been missing since Reyes left.
In addition to Reyes in the infield, the Mets also have Wilmer Flores. Like Reyes, Flores can play multiple positions, and he also hammers left-handed pitchers. While some say the Mets might have a logjam in their outfield, that can also be taken as they have good depth. Especially in the National League, having a good bench is important. In 2017, the Mets have one of the best on paper.
