Improved Lineup

While the Mets’ rotation gets a lot of credit, their lineup is also improving in recent years. After having one of the worst lineups just a few years ago in the National League, the Mets now have one of the best.

Led by Yoenis Cespedes, the Mets actually have one of the best lineups from top to bottom in the National League. Having a possible MVP candidate like Cespedes will instantly make a lineup better, but it takes more than just that. Knowing that the lineup could still use a little more punch, the Mets acquired Jay Bruce in a trade at the deadline last season. Bruce didn’t shine in his first half of a season with the Mets, but he is proven hitter in the major leagues. Despite the slow start in New York, Bruce should be better in 2017.

If Bruce and Cespedes are both playing up to their capabilities, the Mets will be able to generate a lot of runs. Getting people on base in front of them will be important. However, the Mets have good players like Jose Reyes, Asdrubal Cabrera, Neil Walker, and Curtis Granderson who can get on base in front of them depending on how Terry Collins make his lineup. The Mets’ offense is going to be able to generate some runs this season, and that could result in a lot of wins with their talented rotation.
