Carmelo Anthony

Anthony has been under the microscope for weeks now. His willingness to waive his no-trade clause is a subject of discussion essentially every day. He continues to say he wants to stay with the Knicks and build a winner here, but he has softened on that stance at times.

He has said that he would consider waiving his no-trade clause should the Knicks want to head in another direction. There have been rumors about teams that he would waive his no-trade clause for, but he has said his family will come first. That has not stopped the front office, led by Jackson, from talking to teams, as Jackson is reportedly determined to move Anthony by the deadline.

If Anthony did not possess all of the power in this situation with his no-trade clause, there is a high likelihood that he would already be gone. But he has the power to choose where to go, complicating things for the Knicks front office; his 15 percent trade kicker doesn’t make things any easier.

With the Knicks continuing to lose games and the questions about his future only picking up steam with the NBA Trade Deadline approaching, could we see Anthony actually accept a trade? If it is what Jackson wants, you can be sure that he does his best to convince Anthony to leave. It would signal an end of an era and a beginning of a new one with Kristaps Porzingis as the face of the franchise.
